I've used a lot of standard Electronics project boxes, but found making them out of recycled electronics to be more satisfying overall. A quick video. Hope you enjoy. // Please don't be offended if comments are not replied to - I have limited computer time due to eye problems - thank you! //
OLDER VIDEO - MAY NEED TO TURN UP VOLUME // A close up look at a typical Lithium-Ion BMS (battery management system) board inside a solar generator or portable power bank unit. It's not very technical, more like an introduction for basic familiarity - which is helpful when repairing or salvaging solar generators and other Lithium-Ion powered devices.

Lengthy and close look at the construction and internals of a typical solar security "wedge light" on the market, plus advice on additional waterproofing.
// A documented experiment to see if a small solar generator and solar array can actually cook food. I believe every household should have backup solar power, even if it is a small system. There are hard times ahead and prepping is smart. Hope you enjoy the video! I am not very active on comments because of eye problems impacting computer use, it is what it is. //
Postbag 1 - 12v noodles - USB heated cushion - cooking with a solar generator part 2
A first attempt at a so-called "postbag" video. This turned into 2 videos in one because I decided to test the 12v appliance in the same video, just couldn't wait. So it's also "Cooking with a solar generator part 2". I was looking for a tiny 12v Crock Pot / Slow Cooker and I think I found it, sort of. Thanks for watching and hope you enjoy. DD
I like to collect small appliances for use on solar power when the grid is down. In this video I play around with a small countertop or tabletop dishwasher that can run on under 1kW. That is when the heating element is on, otherwise it uses very little power. It's able to heat its own water and uses only 1.3 gallon per wash. That's pretty frugal. This video is not intended to promote any brand or product. Hope you enjoy the video.
Alloy Solar Security Light Teardown 4 (Re-uploaded)
//Update - After this teardown I have installed it on my shed and it's actually not bad. Not too bright but it runs all night. I'm not promoting or selling anything. Please use the picture in the video to find it if you're interested (bought it on a major auction site). Hope you enjoy the video, thank you
Teardown and Repair or Salvage of a Solar Generator Part 1
// Please don't be offended if comments are not replied to - I have limited computer time due to eye problems - thank you! // A look inside of a typical solar generator on the market with an eye towards repair or potential salvage. Also a teardown video. Part one of a three part series. Hope you enjoy the video.
Random idea for a winter jacket powered by solar and graphene heating elements. I haven't done much research on this, but I think it's possible. I intend to experiment with this concept at a later date using off the shelf components.
Solar Shed - LiFePo4 Mower - Passive Solar Lighting
Quick video about one of my sheds. It has a lot of solar experiments in it and other stuff. You might enjoy this quick look inside. I am working on some other videos for the next few weeks.
Teardown and Repair or Salvage of a Solar Generator Part 3
// Please don't be offended if comments are not replied to - I have limited computer time due to eye problems - thank you! // A look inside of a typical solar generator on the market with an eye towards repair or potential salvage. Also a teardown video. Part three of a three part series.
A quick video about recovering deep-discharged lithium-ion cells. They are usually damanged by deep discharge but can often be recovered enough to make use of. This is not a deep dive but some basic tech and safety info. Hope this video is helpful and thanks for watching.
