Sam and I spent a night in a cabin in the woods during the coldest night of the season so far. It got down below freezing in this August night.
We hiked with our bug out backpacks and survival gear into the woods to a real log cabin where we spent some time testing out some new equipment.
We built a small camp fire where we later roasted our dinner on sticks. The night got cold fast but we had a good time with the fire going.
We had some protection with us from the predators. Earlier in the day we practiced with my Bryco model 59 380 auto. Sam hit 8 out of 11 targets. This is very amazing considering this was his first time ever holding a loaded hand gun.
The cabin was built using all natural logs from the surrounding forest. We got to sleep inside during the night. It gave us protection from the coyotes, wolves and bear in the area.
Inside we had a hammock and a cot to sleep on. It was not roughing it by any means but we did not have heat.
Our only light source for the night was my SunJack light stick mini which I had recently received in the mail to review.
