Very simple capture of free static electricity from Lorrie Matchett in June 2008. There is no significant current draw from the mains which is left open-circuit.If you have a very sensitive AC current meter, you will see that due to the very low capacitance between the windings and the brass rods, that there is a minimal current draw from the mains. This is due to the system not being 100% efficient, but the current drawn by the load is not coming from the mains - this has been replicated and measured.
