We had our first really nice day this year so we went to Elk Rapids Michigan to hunt for Leland Blue Stones, Frankfort Greens, fossils and pretty rocks.
Leland Blue and Frankfort Green are slag that was dumped in the water about 150 years ago. The action of the lakes has broken it up and is polishing it. The two stones are named after the towns they are more commonly found near. Both are valued for jewelry making.
I am collecting small fossils to make acrylic coffee coasters with.
