I am making a picket fence for the gardens using sawmill slab wood. I get a whole bale of slabs for $10. Since I only used a small amount of wood for this project so far I figure the total cost of lumber was about a dollar or less.Out of that one bale of slab wood I already put up over 20 feet of fence along our yard edge 8 ft tall. Today we processed the boards that were too short or not right for the taller fence.Chris from YT was here today to help out. We cut the slabs to 4 ft using a chainsaw and then stacked them neatly. We had almost a full cord of wood when we were done.Next we put a couple metal fence posts in the ground and then screwed some scrap lumber onto them. These will hold the pickets in place. These boards also came from the sawmill as scraps. We got four sections done which is about 32 feet of fence before we called it a day. I am really liking it.Thanks for watching.
