Today I put quick release gate latches on our homestead entrance gates to hold them open safely when entering or leaving the property.
We have been using a T post leaned against the gate doors to hold them open till now. But this is not convenient or good for the doors.
I got some quick release gate latches for this project.
First I had to find out where to locate the latches. Then I pounded in a T post for each side and screwed on a piece of 2x4 to each T post.
Then I mounted the gate latch to the 2x4 and a bar to each side of the gate.
Now I can swing the gates open and they stay in place safely while we enter or exit the property.
I will be putting in some treated 4x4 posts later to make this more stable. I dont like the wobble of the T posts.
