I build a log loading ramp for my stationary chainsaw lumber mill. This will help me get larger and heavier logs onto the lumber mill without the need for heavy equipment.

An old sawyer showed me how to load logs onto the mill without the use of any heavy equipment. I always watch videos of sawyers loading their mill with a tractor or forklift and I have been dreaming of owning such a machine but it is not in the budget.

But now with the use of a cant hook and a loading ramp I know how to load logs onto my mill alone with ease.

I used all scrap lumber to build this loading ramp next to my lumber mill. In the previous video I cleaned up around the mill to prepare space for the ramp.

I cut three 2x6 boards at 80 inches long to give me a nice, gentle slope up to the mill. A gentle slope will allow me to load logs easier onto the lumber mill rails.

I supported the ramp vertically and horizontally to prevent sagging under load and stop it from falling over flat on its side.

It got dark before I was finished. I still have to put in some vertical bracing up against the mill and put in a mess of nails. I used one screw per joint for now to hold things in place but I will use nails for a more solid and permanent fix.
